VITÓRIA
The Rio de Janeiro police drama, based on true events, features the phenomenal performance of Brazilian star Fernanda Montenegro (96 years old). Her character, Nina, lives near a favela and faces days marked by fear of stray bullets from confrontations among organized crime members, which often occur right outside her windows. Requests for help from the police are in vain, so she decides to buy a camera and gather evidence of criminal activity on her own. Determined, Nina refuses to be merely a victim and faces everything with courage, despite her age and circumstances.
Trivia:
The real name of the character Nina, the film’s protagonist, is Joana Zeferino Paz. It was revealed only in 2023, after her death at 97. Until then, Joana was in a witness protection program.
