"I appreciate when people stand publicly behind their projects. Plus, it seemed to me that the last animated videos lacked that uniqueness and real faces," said the author of the trailer 2024.

This year's festival promo was different for several reasons: it was shot by a new cameraman, Daniel Kupsa, who focused primarily on the marketing impact. We, the members of the Kino Brasil team, even played in it, right in the Bio Oko cinema. Plus, we added English subtitles so everyone could understand it. How does the promo video feel to you?

Are you curious about how it all went? We’ve prepared a short interview with Daniel for you.

[Barbora] The Kino Brasil team chose you to shoot the promo this year. Where did you find your inspiration?

[Daniel] This was a completely new experience for me in terms of theme, so first, I watched all the videos from previous years and tried to think about what was missing and what I could bring to them through my work. I like creating more personal videos, ideally with a strong script and some marketing value. I think that worked out well.

[Barbora] Why did you insist that Kino Brasil

members be in the promo?

[Daniel] As I hinted, it’s a bit of my style. I like to show reality. I appreciate when people stand publicly behind their projects. Plus, it seemed to me that the last animated videos lacked that uniqueness and real faces. I thought it would be nice to bring that element to this year’s video.

[Barbora] Working with non-actors can be challenging. Were you stressed working with us, the non-actors?

[Daniel] Working with non-actors has been my job for many years, so there was no issue there. Plus, you’re all talented and open to new experiences, so it went perfectly smoothly!

[Barbora] The shoot took place at Bio Oko cinema, which doesn’t have the best lighting. Was it challenging for you, or are you experienced enough to know it would turn out as you imagined?

[Daniel] Since I usually focus more on content in my work and sometimes downplay the visuals a bit, the less-than-ideal lighting in the cinema didn’t bother me. And I believe the audience isn’t bothered by it either.

[Barbora] You put a lot of effort into post-production. Are you satisfied with the final result?

[Daniel] Actually, even this editing style was new to me, and honestly, I wasn’t sure in advance if I could create what I had in mind. Luckily, it turned out well.

[Barbora] Did you attend the festival in person?

[Daniel] I was at the opening, and it was great!
