GREICE

The Brazilian Greice, twenty-one years old, studies fine arts at a university in Lisbon. She has everything a young South American in Europe could wish for — a course in a beautiful historic city, friends, work, fun, and beauty. At the beginning of summer, she meets Afonso and starts dating him. When they are both accused of an accident during a freshman party, their studies are suspended. To renew her residence permit in Portugal, Greice must return to her hometown, Fortaleza, where she does everything to prevent her mother from finding out what happened. Young director Leonardo Mouramateus sets the story in this intermediate space where many Brazilians in Europe find themselves. Through his characters, he faithfully portrays two distinct worlds and does not hesitate to use a comedic tone while guiding the audience through Greice’s journey — a charming, intense, and unforgettable protagonist.
