A boy from the suburbs who traded hip-hop for ballet shoes and conquered the world’s most prestigious stages.

Thiago lives for the rhythm of the streets. He laughs at ballet until a scholarship to a prestigious school puts him in the path of a teacher who sees more in him than he sees in himself. Cuban master Dino Carrera is strict, uncompromising and determined to turn the cheeky self-taught dancer into a star. Their relationship evolves from resistance to mutual respect and eventually to a friendship that changes Thiago’s life.

From the hot streets of Rio to competitions in Paris and a gold medal at the Bolshoi Ballet Competition, Thiago eventually makes his way to London’s Royal Ballet, where he dances as a soloist for fourteen years. A true story full of energy, sweat and emotion, brought to life with breathtaking choreography. The film won Best Feature Film at the Inffinito Festival in Miami.

Fun fact: Now 45, Soares still dances, and it is he himself who appears in the film’s final scene, performing the decisive solo.
