Brasília, 1986. A mother and her two sons in a new city that feels foreign to everyone.

Helena moves with her family to the newly built capital, but her husband soon leaves for work. She is left alone with her teenage son André, who is experiencing his first love, and little Dudu, who understands the world in his own way. A film about growing up, motherhood and the way history, as the country transitions towards democracy, finds its way into the smallest details of everyday life.

At Festival do Rio 2025, it won awards for Best Film and Best Art Direction. Brasília is captured with tenderness and melancholy, while actress Carolina Dieckmann delivers one of the finest performances of her career.

Fun fact: The director is the daughter of a diplomat and lived in Brasília at the same age as her characters. The idea for the film came to her after the birth of her first daughter and the loss of her mother, to whom the film is dedicated. Dieckmann, meanwhile, is best known in Brazil as a television star from the telenovelas Laços de Família and Mulheres Apaixonadas.
