KLEBER MENDONÇA FILHO: MUSEUM

Kleber Mendonça Filho: O museu

It probably wouldn't even be Kino Brasil if we didn't give a film by our favorite director, Kléber Mendonça Filh. And this year we will give four! Thanks to the cooperation with the Ostrava Kamera Oko festival, we will offer you a range of short films hidden under the collective name Museum. The attentive and faithful spectator will certainly recognize the director's subtly critical eye in them.

Eletrodoméstica

camera: Roberto Santos Filho | 2005 | 23 min

The film Eletrodoméstica is a probe into automated life. We are entering the bowels of an apartment in Recife, where everything seems to be at the mercy of electricity, whether connected or not.

The World Cup in Recife

camera: Ernesto Carvalho | 2015 | 14 min

The World Cup in Recife commemorates a major sport event and shows Brazilian prowess while at the same making fun from lost foreigners facing local reality.

Green Vinyl

camera: Kleber Mendonça Filho | 2004 | 14 min

In Green Vinyl, the mother donates a box of old vinyl records to her daughter, instructing that she can listen to all but the green one. Otherwise, it will cause tragic consequences. The horror story is an adaptation of a Russian folk tale and is told in the form of a montage of photographic shots and a dramatic voiceover.

Cold Tropics

camera: Kleber Mendonça Filho | 2009 | 24 min

Cold Tropics is a mockumentary from the Brazilian tropical port city, which critically examines the local dramatic declining temperatures and climate change that the local population must get used to.
